Michael Church has been serving the Ottawa business community in commercial real estate since 1987. A former president of the Ottawa Board of Trade, he joined locally based Regional Realty as an Office Leasing broker before moving over to what is now Cushman & Wakefield in 1996. He left that firm in October of 2007 to open the Ottawa office of Avison Young.

Michael’s has been working in office leasing and managing complex assignments which often involve multiple approval levels and often working with not-for-profit groups and volunteer boards.  In addition he has completed office leasing and disposition assignments from many of Canada distinguished legal and accounting firms as well as some of Canada’s chartered banks and an ever growing list of international advanced technology firms.
Michael takes a long term view of the market – both in terms of leasing and acquisitions. Paying close attention to emerging office leasing trends and the key players in his local market – particularly the Federal Government, he is able to provide his clients with strategic mid and long term advice thus giving them leasing flexibility.  His tenure in the Leasing market is leading him into more acquisition and disposition assignments and he is able to effectively analyze disparate rent rolls to find underlying value.

Michael is an active community volunteer having sat on the Boards of the United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Operation Come Home, at one time or another. He has also assisted with numerous community find raising projects for the Ottawa Hospital Foundation, CHEO and is a former United Way of Ottawa Campaign Chair.

Michael has been married to Julie Mercantini since 1982 and they have two children, Kevin and Samantha. Michael is an avid competitive golfer and advanced recreational skier.
