Joel's real estate experiences include appraisal, acquisiiton, urban planning, and land development. With 25 years experience as a tax agent, his focus today is representing owners of industrial, retail, and suburban office properties.

Known for creating successful arguments that focus on a property's unique attributes, he has generated over his career an estimated $15-million in tax savings for clients. In a recent example of this, Joel successfully championed the use of the income method in appeals of large and unique income-producing industrial properties with sufficient sales comparables to determine values using the direct comparison approach. While Assessment Departments prefer the comparison approach, Joel continues to convince Boards that in the absence of applicable market transactions the income approach provides greater reliability.
